DIRECTOR

Todd Felderstein’s theatrical and commercial credits range from studio productions and commercials to music videos and an assortment of films throughout independent cinema. The global premiere of the collaborative feature film, “THE OWNER” premiered on May 25th, 2012 where Todd represents the City of L.A. as one of twenty-five directors behind this production.

He reprised this role with “THE TRAIN STATION”, the second feature in this series where he filmed throughout Los Angeles and Culver City. Previous productions include the documentary, “THE ROAD: RETURN TO FUNK” that follows the Grammy award-winning band Rufus on their return to the limelight and “MAGIC(S)”, an award-winning feature documentary filmed in Israel that has since taken 6 “Best” Awards from an assortment of festivals around the globe.

As a visual storyteller who spent years as a professional photographer while directing in the theatre, Todd Felderstein is often considered an “actor’s director”, a talent which is instrumental when directing documentaries as well. Todd is a member of the writing team behind Sony and Marvel’s “SPIDER-MAN, THE ANIMATED SERIES” that aired on MTV. Starring Neil Patrick Harris in the title role, the cast included: Lisa Loeb, Michael Clark Duncan, Ian Zierring, Jeremy Piven, Eve, Ed Asner, Virginia Madsen, Gina Gershon and many other A-List actors. He was picked up to join the staff of “ASTRO-BOY” but chose to make “MAGIC(S)” instead.

One of his early breaks came through a co-production with Roger Corman’s Concorde/New Horizons and Hope Street Productions where he was fortunate to direct under the strict guidelines that made Mr.Corman the “King of B Movies”. Between some of his larger budgeted productions, Todd enjoys creating shorter, more intimate non-fiction movie productions that showcase musical legends either on the road or in studio.

Coined as “Muviettes”, these films have featured such musical institutions as: Ellis Hall, Doyle Cole’s Four Tops, The Sounds of The Supremes, Ray Parker, Jr., Booker T., Preston Glass and many others. He has also made tributes with Burt Bacharach, Barbra Streisand, and a variety of environmental causes. Early in his career, Todd was fortunate to work with Jack Haley, Jr. where he learned from one of the best in non-fiction storytelling.

Also an accomplished editor, Todd spent years cutting hundreds of hours of Timothy Treadwell’s remarkable Alaskan wildlife footage before his untimely death during one of his expeditions. This footage was later used in Werner Herzog’s documentary, “GRIZZLY MAN”. In 2007, Todd was honored as 1 of only 12 American filmmakers along with 12 Israeli filmmakers by the Jewish Federation to take part in their Master Class. Todd is a graduate of the University of Maryland, studied directing under Ted Post at UCLA and attended Mimi Leder’s, The Hughes Brothers and Tamara Davis‘ Alma mater, Los Angeles City College.

Todd Felderstein is a member of the International Documentary Association and has served on a number of non-profit boards. Currently he is one of the driving forces behind “The Story Project”, a Los Angeles based after-school literacy and youth empowerment organization dedicated to furthering education in at-risk and underserved middle school students through the power of storytelling.
