Recently, Uncle Earl was invited to an exclusive preview screening of an entertaining and highly educational documentary “A.K.A. Doc Pomus” presented by Hilary Helstein and the LA Jewish Film Festival.

Songwriter Mike Stoller (Leiber& Stoller) made a personal appearance for Q&A following film moderated by Cantor Nate Lam (100 Voices)
Mike Stoller and partner Jerry Leiber were the most legendary songwriting/producing team of the 50′s and 60′s creating hit songs such as”Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and “Stand By Me”.

Paralyzed with polio as a child and confined to a wheelchair, Brooklyn-born Jerome Felder reinvented himself first as a blues singer, renaming himself “Doc Pomus”, and then emerged as a one of the most brilliant songwriters of the early rock and roll era, writing “Save the Last Dance for Me,” “This Magic Moment,” “A Teenager in Love,” “Viva Las Vegas,” and dozens of other hits. He wrote a thousand songs, including some of the most recorded songs in the history of popular music.
Packed with incomparable music and rare archival imagery, “A.K.A. DOC POMUS” features music and interviews with Doc’s collaborators and friends, including Leiber and Stoller, Dr. John, Andy Williams, Ben E. King, Joan Osborne, Joe Turner, Shawn Colvin, Dion,Little Jimmy Scott, Ray Charles, Phil Spector, Elvis Pressley, B.B. King and many more.
