THE STORY OF DEATH

So you’ve heard of the Detroit band called DEATH that was formed in the 1970s?

Maybe you’ve read the New York Times article, or have read reviews in Rolling Stone, Spin Magazine, National Public Radio, The BBC, Melody Magazine and Dazed And Confused , The Chicago Tribune, The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press, Fader Magazine, or even the Howard Stern Show and you feel that you know the story.

Maybe you have heard the great and legendary release of the tracks recorded at Detroit’s United Sounds Recording Studio in 1974/1975 released in 2009 by Drag City Records entitled “FOR THE WHOLE WORLD TO SEE”.

Although all of the above is true and well written regarding the Death story, the half is still yet to be told. All we can tell you is that Death is a strange and wonderful story and all of it has to do with Rock-N-Roll.

Bubba Da Skitso Aka Robert Deioma

Born and raised in Ohio. One of eight kids in a Catholic family. Singled out as a vocalist in grade school and hooked on performance ever since.

Moved to California to become a big star in ’85 at 22.  Started off focused on music, but also did a film or two and was actually starring in a play in the early 90s when his first big break came along for radio and V/O with Sean “Hollywood” Hamilton at KIIS fm. In the late 80’s, he was honored to be part of a project that won an “Addy” Award for advertising for which he performed a Rap in a TV Commercial for the New Mexico Power Industry. It was the “Whitest” Rap known to Man.  Before finding radio quite by accident, Bubba also managed to sign two separate recording contracts that had fallen apart before anything could come of them.

1994 came his first full time on-air “radio personality” position when Hamilton hired him as part the crew of his Morning Radio show at 99.1 KGGI in Riverside, CA where he performed not only as himself, but also an uncountable number of voice characters including about a half dozen recurring staple characters. Hamilton called again in ‘97, this time to work at Famous NYC radio station WKTU 103.5 where he reprised his numerous characters for the morning show there.

After leaving KGGI again in 2003, Bubba spent a rough number of years trying to make progress in this very competitive business without much to show for it.

In 2006, he decided to create something new “Code 4: Security Officer on Duty”.  His “Tagline”: Code 4 Security Officer on Duty is shot in front of absolutely no one, in the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere, cause that’s where you’ve gotta be, when you’re the last line of defense.  He now has 9 webisodes online at youtube.com/daskitso, funnyordie.com/daskitso and many other sites that reach around the world. Created, Written, Produced and Starring various versions of Bubba.

Also during  mid and late 2000s, he managed to have a Christmas song titled “No Cash For Xmas!” released and went gold in Poland and is also available on Uplaya.com, iTunes.com, amazon.com, CDbaby.com plus many others and joined BMI.

Lately however,  his web series “Code 4: Security Officer on Duty” which  has had a number of episodes screened in a number of International Film Festivals in 2010-11 including the Burbank International Film Festival (BIFF) and the “Who Likes Short Shorts” (WLSS) film festival in Salt Lake City, UT and have been invited back again in 2012.

Right now, he’s promoting a parody song  to the tune of Katie Perry’s “Firework” called “Out of Work” which is sort of his political statement about the current unemployment situation and how “We The People” are feeling about government and corporations.

Dread Daze

Pulling reggae apart and putting it back together again with a  dose of hip-hop, a dash of rock, and a whole lot of soul, Dread Daze tunes up the positive vibrations and turns traditional reggae on it’s ear.  The powerful sound they bring forth is uniquely their own, and their music speaks their truth in no uncertain terms.

Di Wall, Dread Daze’ beautifully crafted debut album, literally explodes with songs like “Right Now”, “Stand Up”, and “Murder in the Name of Religion”, that challenge the status quo and urge people to question, understand and take action. “Kitty” and “NiteTime” get listeners out of their chairs and onto their feet — just in time to bend and move to the traditional reggae vibes of “Morning Time” and “Danger Signs” before slowing down and slipping into Ital Soul where lead vocalist Najashi seduces listeners with his steamy twist on a Motown-inspired love song.

Dread Daze was conceived in Los Angeles, but is a child of the world stage.  Their authentic desire to use their music to open minds, change vibes and spread a message of peace and unity shines through in every song and has captured the ears of listeners across all genres as well as promoters throughout the U.S. and around the world.  Dread Daze’ exudes raw energy on-stage and forges a strong bond with audiences worldwide, while their huge grass-roots following and spirit of collaboration make them widely sought after – as evidenced by countless shows in clubs, festivals and other venues throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

Together, Najashi (lead vocalist), Brian Ward/Belfast Posse (guitar/vocals), Donu (drums), DJ Thergood (DJ/percussion), Steve(bass) Billy (lead guitar), form Dread Daze.  Individually, they have made their mark in the music scene performing with legends such as Beres Hammond,Israel Vibrations,Aswad,UB40, Steel Pulse, Arrested Development, Pato Banton, Capleton,Sizzla, Richie Spice,Luciano,Eek A Mouse, Half Pint, Mikey Dread, Wailing Souls, The Abyssinians, Don Carlos and many more. They’ve also recorded with members of The Black Eyed Peas, Jurassic 5, James Early of M.C Hammer’s first album, and more recently recorded in the infamous Hitsville West, a.k.a. Motown Studios, where legends, Marvin Gaye and The Jackson 5, once created music history.

Bring the Dread Daze audience more Great Music which will touch the mind and soul on a deeper level. Look for the band to tour Around the globe and excite the music lovers of the world.

Zach Bromberg

Zach was born on June 12, 1985 in Tucson Arizona.  Raised in a family of artists and musicians, Zach chose a different form of expression at a young age in athletics.  He started to play tennis at 18 months old and was on the news by age 2 for his outstanding ability for someone of his age.  Not looking back, Zach became a top ranked junior player and was recruited to play at the University of Arizona in 2003.  After one year in collegiate athletics, Zach decided to pursue his lifelong aspirations and started to compete professionally.

Eight months into his professional career he suffered a back injury that would turn out to be a blessing in disguise.  With his injury ending his competitive career, Zach had to re-evaluate his life.  One day his neighbor brought over a demo version of FL Studio (Fruity Loops) and new passion began.  Zach took his athletic work ethic and applied it to his musical visions.

Spending countless hours working on his sound, Zach started to create innovative beats and transcending melodies.  Combining influences ranging from Earth, Wind, & Fire and Minnie Ripperton to Timbaland and Pharrell, Zach brings his own unique/soulful sound to the modern world.

Andrea “Drea” Hudson

5A baby of the 80s, 86 to be exact. Born in the land of Dr. Suess, Springfield, MA.  Realizing that my ability to personify experiences and play with words just as much as Legos, I first started writing poetry at age 9.  I started to write rap songs, similar to poetry starting at age 12.  Attracted to the idea of freestyle battling boys in the lunch room by the time I was in 9th grade, I’d battle anybody who wanted to, boys and girls alike.

Music has always been a passion of mine.  It has never been a means of supporting myself, more so supporting other people so long as they are able to relate to my lyrics.  Lyrically I’d compare myself to a Hip-Hop/Motown/ Emo raised artist.  It’s difficult to place myself in one specific category.  My ultimate goal is to create music with substance that people will be able to listen to as time progresses and get the same feeling they got the first time they heard it.

My influences range from, Something Corporate, Nas, Kid Cudi, Lupe Fiasco, Lauryn Hill, Eminem, Method Man, to early 90s feel good music. I truthfully do love it all.

Some of my vices are crayons, quality headphones, exclusive sneakers, Levis, penny loafers (with the penny), v-necks, whiskey, thunderstorms and featherbeds. I find beauty in all things, complex and simple.

Caitlin MacKenzie Smith

I am a singer songwriter. I currently live in Los Angeles California. I am originally from Pasco Washington. I have been interested in music my whole life. I have been performing many genres including opera, classical, folk, jazz, pop and what ever you would like to call my own personal style : )

I like to go out, experience people and nature, then sing about them.

LUENELL

Luenell is a force of nature. This talented comedienne, actress and singer, was born in Tollette, Arkansas, a town whose population barely registers with the U.S. census. At the tender age of 10, she caught the acting bug after seeing the plays South Pacific and Ain’t S’posed to Die a Natural Death. She enrolled in theatre classes at the grade school level and continued to study through college and cut her teeth at the Oakland Ensemble Theatre.

In March of 1995, Luenell’s mom passed away and one month later she discovered she was pregnant. Some months later, a beautiful daughter Da’Nelle was born and she is the joy of her life, her “miracle child” as Luenell puts it.

Not long after this however, Luenell got a rude awakening. Luenell was sentenced to 365 days in jail for a series of indiscretions taken while working at a bank months earlier. It played out like an episode of Lil’ Kim on Court TV. She eventually served just over 4 months.

These days- however, Luenell’s life is on track. She is becoming increasingly popular from her appearances in television, film and music videos. Best know for her controversial role as the “hooker with the heart of gold” in the blockbuster comedy of 2006 “Borat”Luenell is recognized by both mainstream AND urban sectors of the population. Her two-year tour and DVD appearances in “Katt Williams American Hustle” have created an almost cult-like following.

Luenell recently completed several feature films: “That’s My Boy” with Adam Sandler and Leighton Meester, “Think Like A Man” with Arielle Kebell and Meagan Good. She hasn’t been short on television appearances either with episodes of “The Middle” and “Always Sunny In Philadelphia.”

Luenell is living her dream. With such an intriguing past, one would wonder how can she be so funny, but it’s just that…life. Her reputation as a comic superstar continues to flourish, “…comedy demolition machine” (EURweb report) “a sidesplitting high wired act without a net…” (Scoop LA), “…comedy to die for.” (Metro LA) “…one of the top 25 funniest people in LA (Los Angeles Magazine) and the accolades continue to roll.

Luenell Appears Courtesy of Rebecca at Barry Katz Management!
